Norm Hann met Ian and Karen McAllister back in the days of the Stop the Tankers campaign to protect the Great Bear Rainforest from Northern Enbridge’s planned supertanker port to ship oil out of Alberta to the East.
Norm’s award-winning documentary, The Stand, was based on a 2010 trip to the GBR (The Standup4Greatbear Expedition) and the formation of his non-profit society by the same name.
Norm and another filmmaker paddled the entire planned Enbridge route, from the north coast Haisla community of Kitimaat, south 400 km to the Heiltsuk village of Bella Bella, documenting the communities, wildlife and ecosystems under threat from tanker traffic and potential spills.
Norm Hann Expeditions, based out of Squamish, B.C. offers SUP tours in the Great Bear Rainforest, Broughton Archipeligo, Discovery Island, and even Belize! NHE is a licensed trainer of professional SUP guides, and sells SUP gear online and in their Squamish store.
