A big shout out to Ethan D., 12 year old owner of Summit to Sea Stamped Tees. Ethan donated $53 as a portion of the sales of his nature-branded tee shirts that he sells at young entrepreneur fairs and online.

“My designs are inspired by animals that live on the summits and seas where I like to explore with my family. My mom and I go backpacking a lot and have seen bears and whales. I hope to see a wolf soon, maybe this summer when we hike the North Coast Trail.

Wolves are my favourite animal. This year at school I did a project on sea wolves which are unique to the Salish Sea and live on Vancouver Island.

The charity I will be donating 5% of my profits to is Pacific Wild which is an organization that helps protect forests and seas as the habitat of whales, bears and wolves. Protecting these ecosystems is important.”

B.C. author and filmmaker Cheryl Alexander - and l

B.C. author and filmmaker Cheryl Alexander - and longtime supporter of Pacific Wild's #savebcwolves campaign - announced that Takaya's coastal sea wolf story has found a place in history in a new UK book 'The Wolf: Culture, Nature, Heritage.' The 178-page hardcover book consists of chapters exploring the wolf's unique position in ecosystems around the world. Takaya's story is the only Canadian wolf in the book

A new road name also recently showed up on the Port Renfrew loop out of Victoria. Takaya Rd. is right near Shirley, B.C.

Coastal sea wolves are common along the coastline in Sooke, Metchosin and further northwest. Keep your eyes peeled for Pacific Wild's upcoming exploration of how sea wolves and interior wolves influence their environments later in August! 🐺
