Sandra Metz: Spirit of Wolves Studio

As beginning artist, Spirit of Wolves supports Pacific Wild because.. everything is connected. When you buy an item in the ‘Spirit of Wolves’ online shop a percentage of sales will go to Pacific Wild to sustain wilderness and wildlife protection and protection of the Great Bear Rainforest.

With my drawings I try to capture, portray the spirit of the wild in a with elements of nature: wood and fire. Reconnecting and respecting nature and wilderness. Which is why as a beginning artist I support Pacific Wild with my work because…everything is connected. This is about protection of the wildlife I hold dear. I hope I bring the value of respect in every piece of artwork.

What is the value of an image or portrait ? What does it mean?

Without a connection the real world?

The time to act is now. With the immense pressure our society puts on wildlife and wilderness.

My handmade art pieces take responsibility and support Pacific Wild. When you buy an item in my shop percentage of sales will go to Pacific Wild to sustain wilderness and wild creatures like B.C. wolves.

Why do you support Pacific Wild?

My connection to wolves. My dog Micah carries the wilderness in her genes: her father and relatives come from the rainforest of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, and she is the start of my personal relation and close affiliation with wolves.

This is how a wild soul, wolves, being in the forest itself for many hours became significant part of my daily life, a subject to research and a creative inspiration to learn about, and portray this wild spirit that I feel should be protected.

With my wood art I participated in Takaya’s art fest in Victoria, sending my work overseas. My work has grown to encompass the protection of wolves and bears across British Columbia – interior wolves, sea wolves, grizzlies, and the spirit bears and black bears of the Great Bear Rainforest.
