Susan Marie Conrad

An expedition kayaker, award-winning author, photojournalist, and lover of all-things-wild.

Susan is an expedition kayaker, award-winning author, photojournalist, and lover of all-things-wild. Her keen sense of adventure and insatiable curiosity has had a profound influence on the course of her life—and more importantly—on her writing. She’s a self-described “writer with a paddling problem!” Writing has become a venue to share her passion in a colorful, soulful reality, both on and off the water.

She has been involved in the paddlesports industry for over 25 years and is an EXPED adventure ambassador and sponsored athlete, a responsibility she fully embraces and treasures. She currently holds an American Canoe Association (ACA) Open Water Coastal certification and enjoys sharing her passion, both in the classroom and on the water, with novice through advanced paddlers.

Her combined passions have lead to publication in Sea Kayaker, Canoe and Kayak, Adventures Northwest, Harbor, and Figure magazines. Countless newspapers, guidebooks, and historical journals also feature her work. INSIDE is her debut memoir.

Susan first learned about Pacific Wild and the Great Bear Rainforest on a sea kayak expedition up the Inside Passage in 2010 and has been an avid supporter ever since.

Susan’s book “Wildly Inside, A Visual Journey Through the Inside Passage” features the places, spaces and faces of the Inside Passage. She’s proud to donate one dollar of each book sale to Pacific Wild. The book can be purchased on Amazon.com or Amazon.ca.
